Just a Quick Note 25th September 2014
Dear Member
We have a volunteer workday scheduled for this Sunday – 28th – as usual meet up at the car park on the common below the Twmp at about 10.30am. Jobs we have to tackle are as follows:
At long last we have the posts for the Welcome Sign to install near the cattle grid on Mountain Road – we have our friendly farmer to help and direct operations but it is a hefty, solid sign so it will be good to get a few more volunteers to help with digging the holes, lifting it into position etc.
We have a few trees left over from the springtime planting and we’re hoping to get them planted in the triangle by the car park.
The edge of the car park is in a bit of a mess after the recent burned out car there – so we really want to tidy up that area as best we can.
There’s some bare barbed wire by a couple of the kissing gates which needs some sort of covering to stop people catching themselves on it.
The length of the new fences needs to be checked for any damage and the bracken inside the fences needs to be bashed back away from the tree seedlings too.
Of course there’s the usual litter pick to do – last time I was up there, there was a lot of broken glass which needs to be cleared away.
As usual we’ll have tea and biccies available.
As you can see there’s lots of little tasks to do, so can we please try to get a good attendance for this.
Don’t forget… THE CAMPAIGN TO SAVE CWMCARN FOREST DRIVE
CTS offers support to Rob Southall’s group to lobby the authorities to get clarity on the future of the Forest Drive which is an integral part of Twmbarlwm.
Rob hopes to organise a public meeting on the subject very soon – so I urge you to look out for that and go join in the discussion on the Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/groups/938740292808719/ – there is also a petition on the Welsh Government’s website with over 2000 signatures but we need more to sign up to show the strength of local support for the campaign.
There are more Events planned throughout the year – please check out the website regularly for details – www.twmbarlwm.co.uk – click on the “Events” tab.
Many Regards
